Episode 6: Excerpts from The Bell Jar
by Lauren on April 15th, 2007
In which I read out my favorite passages from Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar. It’s one of my favorite books of all time, especially now that I’m at an extremely low point of my life. I highly recommend that you get around to reading it.
“[W]herever I sat - on the deck of a ship or at a street cafĂ© in Paris or Bangkok - I would be sitting under the same glass bell jar, stewing in my own sour air.”
~Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar, Chapter 15

Episode 4: The Fanboy Experience
by Lauren on April 9th, 2007
In which my friend Mia and I talk about our combined experiences dating fanboys as a public service announcement to the hapless young woman who is about to get serious with a total dork.
Recorded using Garageband. It sounds more awesome.

Episode 2: Mad Girl’s Love Song
by Lauren on April 3rd, 2007

In which I recite one of my favorite poems, Mad Girl’s Love Song by Sylvia Plath.

“I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
God topples from the sky, hell’s fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan’s men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
I fancied you’d return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)”
Episode 1: An Audio Experiment
by Lauren on April 2nd, 2007
In which I very briefly talk about why I got into podcasting. Will this podcast have a purpose? Will my life have a purpose? Ah, the existential crisis of the youth!
Music credit: Operate by Peaches, which I mixed myself. Wohoo!
